Somerville, where I currently live, was the first real place I attempted to draw since developing my technique for imaginary maps. The overall map was drawn while referencing a map of the area with focus on important local hubs. The “areas of interest” were drawn from photographs I took all over the city and composited over the map drawing in Photoshop, above a texture taken from one of my imaginary map drawings. The result is a map of my experience of Somerville.
